Science project 1

This week in science we are learning about plants.

We have done an experiment with white flowers and food coloring in the water.

Our Hypothesis is If I add food coloring to the water the flowers will change to that color.....

Some of the students added blue food coloring, some added red and others used celery to see if it absorbs water the same way plants do.

The students realized the roots carried the water to the stem and the stem carried water to the leaves and the flower.

These are some of the results.

The students had fun watching the flowers turn from white to red to and blue and we learned all about how plants live.

Our trip to the museum

This week Mrs. Martin's class went on a field trip to the museum.

I allowed the children to bring in their own cameras so that I could compare what they saw to what I saw.

The children definitely have a different perspective as to what they find fascinating. I hope you all enjoy the pictures I put together.

School year 2012

Welcome back to a new school year.

 I am so happy to see so many familiar faces.

 This year I will be blogging at least once a week to show my parents what your children will be participating in and learning this year.

 I understand many of you cannot regularly visit the classroom to see what wonderful things your children are learning and Internet it the best means of communication so I am going to bring them to you.

I will be sharing thing such as our science projects, classroom activities, and our field trips. I think pictures say a thousand words, please feel free to send the link to your family so they can be a part of our daily experiences as well.
